Your License & Responsibilities

What a Technician license allows and requires, practiced as operating decisions.

NOT STARTED

Lab workspace

Work through the six stages. This is Technician Core, built on Foundations. Finishing the lab does not mean the idea is mastered, and it is not Technician exam readiness.

Stage 1 of 6

LEARN

A license is permission to be the control operator of an amateur station, inside the rules. It is not permission to use a transmitter for any purpose you like. Band edges from Foundations Lab 04 still apply. This page is a teaching summary, not the rule book.

Stage 2 of 6

SEE IT

During a contact, identify the station often enough that a listener can tell who is transmitting. This clock uses a 10-minute gap and an identification at the end.

Stage 3 of 6

DO IT

Two more decisions, then the edge of the 2-meter allocation. A signal has width. The center frequency is not the whole emission.

Stage 4 of 6

EXPLAIN IT

Why does having access to a transmitter not give you permission to use it however you want?

Stage 5 of 6

EXAM CONNECTION

RADIO LAB PRACTICE. These questions are about the decisions you just made. They are not official exam questions, and a miss is not a failed license.

Stage 6 of 6

FIELD TASK

First day with the license. You are at a trailhead with your own radio. Make the operating decisions. This does not finish Technician Core or make you exam-ready.
