Inside the Radio

Signal path, modulation, and a first troubleshooting sequence.

Lab workspace

Work through the six stages. This is Technician Core, built on Foundations. Finishing the lab does not mean the idea is mastered, and it is not Technician exam readiness.

Stage 1 of 6

LEARN

A transmitter takes information and puts it on a radio-frequency signal. Follow the path from the microphone to the antenna. Foundations Labs 05 and 06 are the power and the antenna. This is the chain between them.

Stage 2 of 6

SEE IT

The receive path runs the other way: the antenna delivers a small RF signal, and the radio turns it back into sound or data.

Stage 3 of 6

DO IT

Each case gives you an observation. Choose the next check. Power, connections, settings, signal path, then a measurement.

Stage 4 of 6

EXPLAIN IT

Why is checking power and basic connections usually better than immediately assuming an internal component failed?

Stage 5 of 6

EXAM CONNECTION

RADIO LAB PRACTICE. These questions are about the path and the checks. They are not official exam questions.

Stage 6 of 6

FIELD TASK

The field station is set up and nobody answers. Restore the contact by checking what the observation actually points at.
