Measure, Test & Troubleshoot
Meters, a dummy load, and faults you isolate one measurement at a time.

Stage 1 of 6
LEARN
When a station fails, the job is to find out why. Observe, check the simple things, measure, isolate one part, then confirm. A multimeter does not do voltage, current, and resistance with the same connections. This bench will refuse an unsafe setup instead of inventing a reading.
Stage 2 of 6
SEE IT
An SWR meter and an RF power meter answer different questions. A dummy load lets you test the transmitter without using the antenna as the load. The readings below are the lab's cases, not a calibration certificate.
Stage 3 of 6
DO IT
Four stations are broken. You get the symptom only. Measure before you decide. Change one thing, the thing the evidence points at.
Stage 4 of 6
EXPLAIN IT
Why is changing several things at once a poor troubleshooting strategy?
Stage 5 of 6
EXAM CONNECTION
RADIO LAB PRACTICE. These questions are about the measurements you just chose. They are not official exam questions.
Stage 6 of 6
FIELD TASK
Halfway through a portable outing the station goes dark. Diagnose it on the bench and restore the one failed part. Do not swap everything in the pack.
