Safety, Emergencies & Responsible Operation

Site hazards, an educational exposure model, and emergency priority.

Lab workspace

Work through the six stages. This is Technician Core, built on Foundations. Finishing the lab does not mean the idea is mastered, and it is not Technician exam readiness.

Stage 1 of 6

LEARN

Safe operating is how you set up and use the station so people and equipment stay intact. Electrical shock is one hazard. Overhead lines, weather, batteries, RF exposure, and emergency traffic are others. Walk this site and select every condition that should be corrected.

Stage 2 of 6

SEE IT

EDUCATIONAL MODEL — NOT A COMPLIANCE CALCULATOR. RF exposure depends on more than one factor, including power, distance, and duty cycle. The index you are about to change is a comparison inside this lab. Actual FCC compliance should use the applicable current rules and evaluation methods. The model will not tell you that a station is legal or illegal.

Stage 3 of 6

DO IT

Choose an action. These scenes do not walk through a dangerous job. A real distress call is different from a drill or a casual request.

Stage 4 of 6

EXPLAIN IT

Why does safe amateur-radio operation involve more than just avoiding electrical shock?

Stage 5 of 6

EXAM CONNECTION

RADIO LAB PRACTICE. These questions are about the site, the exposure model, and the emergency choices. They are not official exam questions.

Stage 6 of 6

FIELD TASK

Before a simulated summit outing, make the safety decisions. This is preparation, not a form.
