Parts, Symbols & Practical Circuits

Parts and their jobs, the official schematic figures, a power-supply path, and solder-joint diagnosis.

NOT STARTED

Lab workspace

Work through the six stages. This remediation lab fills a gap left by Foundations and Core. Finishing it does not finish the Technician syllabus, and it is not Technician exam readiness.

Stage 1 of 7

LEARN

TC-03 built a resistor, a capacitor, an inductor, a fuse, a switch, a diode, and a transistor model. This bench adds the parts that lab left out, then asks you to point at them on the official figures.

Stage 2 of 7

SEE IT

The pictures are the NCVEC figures for this pool, stored from the official download. A schematic uses standard symbols for the electrical jobs. It does not draw the photograph of the part.

Stage 3 of 7

DO IT

Order a small supply, then diagnose solder joints from the picture. A rectifier changes AC into pulses of one direction. A regulator holds the voltage down to a steadier value. Shielded wire keeps unwanted signals out of the inner conductor. A meter that shows digits is a numeric display. An LED is a common visual indicator. An integrated circuit packs many parts into one package. A resonant circuit pairs an inductor with a capacitor. Rosin-core solder belongs on radio work. Acid-core solder does not. An ohmmeter on a large discharged capacitor starts near a short and then the reading rises as the capacitor charges from the meter.

Stage 4 of 7

EXPLAIN IT

Why can you recognize a part on a schematic you have never built, if you know the symbol's job?

Stage 5 of 7

EXAM CONNECTION

Radio Lab practice. The figures stay on the official images. These questions use what you did with them.

Stage 6 of 7

FIELD TASK

A small station supply is dark at the radio. The schematic order is battery, fuse, switch, regulator, radio. Use the checks before you replace a box.

Stage 7 of 7

ONE MORE CHECK

The meter connections you already practiced have one misuse that damages the instrument. This bench is a simulation.
