Station Setup, Interference & Measurement
Station controls, mobile power, coax, SWR readings, receiver blocks, and an interference report handled with evidence.
NOT STARTED
Stage 1 of 7
LEARN
TC-04 and TC-07 taught the signal path and a first bench. This lab adds the controls and the station wiring those labs left out: AGC, RIT, scanning, a keyer, a hotspot, mobile DC power, and what a receiver is actually doing. You still do not need a radio in the room.
Stage 2 of 7
SEE IT
Look at a mobile power path on a diagram, a digital hotspot next to a repeater, and a coax cable cut open. An SWR meter and an RF power meter belong in the feed line, and the meter has to be rated for the frequency and power you will use. Flat copper strap is the preferred RF bonding conductor. A computer sound connection, or a digital interface, is what ties a computer to the radio for a digital mode.
Stage 3 of 7
DO IT
Drop a signal until only the more sensitive receiver still copies it. Follow a mixer and a transverter on a block diagram. Read 1:1 and 4:1. Then take a neighbor's interference report apart with evidence.
Stage 4 of 7
EXPLAIN IT
Why should you identify where a problem enters a system before deciding what equipment needs to be changed?
Stage 5 of 7
EXAM CONNECTION
Radio Lab practice for the station work in this lab. Not the official pool.
Stage 6 of 7
FIELD TASK
Mobile and home station diagnostic. Inspect the power path, the settings, the feed line, the SWR, the receiver, and an interference report. Choose the next action from the evidence.
